Multis Wrap up Day Two of Muskie Invitational in Women’s Heptathlon

New Concord, OH. - The Wheeling University Women's Track & Field team wrapped up day two of the Muskie Invitational on Friday with the completion of the Women's Heptathlon. Jaylynn McClarren and Liz Salas competed as they brought home another top five finish for the team to round out their week of competition. McClarren took home fifth place in the event, with a combined score of 3141 while Salas took ninth at 2860.

Day two saw the women compete in the Long Jump, Javelin, and 800-Meter run as McClarren got the chance to compete in her best event. That event would be the Javelin as she finished second among the competitors with a distance of 30.26 meters. She also had a strong showing in the Women's Long Jump, where she set her longest mark of the season with a jump of 4.73 meters to maintain her top five standing. The day rounded out with the 800-Meter run where McClarren ended her day with a time of 3:28.59. McClarren's 3141 was a season-high mark for the junior as she finished third among her fellow MEC competitors.

The other Cardinal to compete on the day was Liz Salas, who took home a ninth place finish, dropping three spots from her day one score. She began with a distance of 4.04 meters in the Women's Long Jump after a strong showing on day one. She followed with a 20.35 meter mark in the Women's Javelin before rounding out her day with a time of 3:13.83 in the 800-Meter run, representing her fastest time in the event all season. It was a big finish for the junior as she continues preparations for the MEC Championships.

The Wheeling University Women's Track & Field team is back in action on Saturday for day two of the Lee Flames Invitational.
