Wheeling remains on top after day two at MEC Championships

GLENVILLE, W.Va. (May 3) – The Wheeling University women's track & field team had another individual champion and holds the lead after the second day of the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championships.
 
The Cardinals have posted 110 points to lead the field. West Liberty is in second place with 90 points, while West Virginia Wesleyan slots third with 77.5 points.
 
Freshman Princess Love (Houston, Texas/C.E. King) won the shot put with a mark of 12.88 meters, while senior Liz Fleming (Washington, Pa./Trinity) took second at 12.65 inches. Freshman Kamille Graham (Upper Marlboro, Md./Wise) added more points to the Wheeling haul on the shot put with a fifth-place finish at 10.94 meters.
 
Fleming and Graham also scored points in the discus throw. Fleming took second with a mark of 36.21 meters, while Graham claimed sixth overall after posting a distance of 33.24 meters.
 
Freshman JayLynn McClarren (Cambridge, Ohio/Cambridge) wrapped up the heptathlon in third place with a final score of 3728.
 
Freshman Avory Elchison (Ellwood City, Pa./Lincoln) took fourth overall in the high jump after clearing 1.55 meters.
 
Wheeling will attempt to defend its 2019 crown tomorrow, Tuesday, May 4 when it concludes competition at the MEC Championships. Live stream coverage on the Mountain East app will begin around 11:30 a.m.
