Rugby Match Canceled vs. Kent State University

Wheeling, W. Va. - The Wheeling University Rugby team (4-2) was getting set to host Kent State University this Saturday at Bishop Schmitt Field for their second home match of the season. However, the Golden Flashes have been forced to forfeit the game, giving the Rugby team their fourth win of the season, and improving their record to 4-2 overall.

Kent State suffered a number of injuries to their roster that left them with too few players to be able to compete. With the forfeit, the Rugby team is awarded a 20-0 win and gives them a much-needed rest after back-to-back physical games against Notre Dame College and Army. Prior to that, they were able to win each of their first three contests of the season against Franciscan, IUP, and West Virginia University by a combined score of 196-20.

The team's "Ruck Cancer" event will be pushed back one week when they host Davenport on October 16th at 1 PM at Bishop Schmitt Field. On that day, the team will be wearing special pink jerseys and will be giving away prizes throughout the game. Where pink to the game as we show our support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Wheeling University Rugby team will be back in action on October 16th when they host Davenport University at Bishop Schmitt Field, with drop kick scheduled for 1 PM.
