Box Score Cardinals Take Loss Against UIndy After Double-Header Week
Wheeling, W. Va. – After a double-header week away, the Cardinals (2-2) took on the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds (1-1) at home. UIndy took the lead right away, scoring the first 3 goals of the game before the Cardinals could answer back in the second quarter with 3 straight goals to tie the game 2-3.
Scotty Gwyn netted the first score for WJU unassisted at 8:19, followed by 2 goals by Jordan Getz with assists from his brother Travis Getz and
Matt Lee, at 7:29 and 1:48. The Greyhounds would score once more with 17 seconds left of the second frame. UIndy opened the third quarter with a 4-goal streak, 3 being over the span of 45 seconds.
WJU's
Dereck Downs added one more period ending unassisted goal at :06, before the hounds would shut out the Cardinals in the final quarter with 3 goals to none. The University of Indianapolis pulled away with an 11-4 victory over WJU.
Indianapolis' 11 goals came from 8 different players, with 58 shots being taken, 34 ground balls, 10 turnover and 13 of 19 face offs being won.
Goalie
Jake Lilly saved 22 shots for the WJU defense that also had 20 turnovers, while 21 shots were taken by the Cardinal offense with 23 ground balls.
WJU will take on Seton Hill on Wed., March 14 in Greensburg, PA.
