Box Score 2 URBANA, Ohio – The Wheeling Jesuit baseball team split Friday's doubleheader with the Urbana Blue Knights, 4-3 and 12-4. Justin Fritts and Cody Hudson each tossed three innings for WJU, Hudson earning the victory. Joe San Felippo collected the save, throwing the seventh inning.
In game two, WJU took a 3-0 advantage in the top half of the first inning. Urbana added a run in the bottom of the first inning, and scored five in the fifth inning to take 6-3 lead. The Blue Knights added four runs in the sixth and one in the seventh and eighth, to claim a 12-4 victory.
Dillon Sunnafrank lasted five innings for WJU, taking the loss. Christopher Minder threw two innings and Rees completed the ninth inning for the Cardinals.
Game 1:
Brock McGivern was hit by a pitch to begin the day for WJU. Jagger Bruck drew a walk, and Dillon Sunnafrank later drove in McGivern, giving the Cardinals an early 1-0 advantage.
Urbana gained the upper hand with two runs in the third inning. San Felippo hit his second homerun of the season in the fifth inning, and WJU regained its lead, 4-2. The Cardinals held the Blue Knights to one run over their final three at bats, securing the game one victory.
Game 2:
The Cardinals jumped to a 3-0 lead in game two. McGivern and Bruck had back-to-back singles in the top-half of the first. Both Cardinals advanced one base on a passed ball, and McGivern would score on a groundout by Tony Connacher. Sunnafrank singled in his first at bat, bringing home Bruck. San Felippo singled, and Logan Shickler drove home Connacher on a base hit to right field.
Connacher doubled in McGivern in the sixth inning to account for the Cardinals fourth and final run of the game.
Urbana added nine runs in the fourth and fifth innings combined, as they led 10-4. The Blue Knights would add a run in the seventh and eighth innings on their way to a 12-4 victory.
