Box Score WINTERHAVEN, Fla. - In Friday's spring trip finale, the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals baseball team was outscored, 4-0, by Findlay University in the nine inning contest.
The Cardinals began the day with a first inning threat. Brock McGivern drew a walk to begin the game, and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Logan Schickler was hit by a pitch, and Tony Connacher walked.
WJU appeared to be in business. The bases were loaded with two outs, but a Cardinal was unable to cross the plate.
Joe San Felippo took the mound in the bottom half for WJU. He sat two opponents down on strikes, and the game remained scoreless.
Adam Dennison led the second inning off with a single, but the Cardinals were then retired in order.
Findlay struck first in the bottom of the third, and the Oiler lead was 1-0.
Tony Connacher reached safely in the fourth, but was caught stealing at second base.
The Oilers added two more runs in the fifth inning, and San Felippo would exit after the inning. He charted five innings while allowing three earned runs and striking out four batters.
Dillon Sunnafrank doubled to the right-centerfield gap in the top of the sixth but was not advanced. He then took the mound for WJU in the bottom half and threw the last three innings.
Sunnafrank allowed one unearned run over his nine outs he completed. He struck out one opponent.
Jagger Bruck singled up the middle in the eighth inning, and WJU tallied two more hits in the ninth. Sunnfrank singled to right field, and John Staab reached on a pinch-hit single.
The Oilers were able to hold the Cardinals scoreless, and went on to win the game, 4-0, over WJU.
WJU returns from its spring break trip and travels to the University of Virginia's College at Wise on March 19.
