Cards Compete Against Bobcats

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Wheeling Jesuit men's and women's swim teams competed against the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats over the weekend. The WJU men were defeated, 109-90 while the women fell, 128-63. WV Wesleyan claimed the combined score victory, 237-153.

Vincent Zellin led the Cardinal men with two individual first place finishes while also swimming on the 200 medley relay, which took first place. In the 100 fly, Zellin swam a time of 53.55. In the 50 free, he finished in 22.60.

Lucas Rhodes claimed first in the 200 free with a time of 1:50.43. Nick Friday finished just behind Rhodes (1:53.72), taking second place.

Jake Braumbaugh swam to a first place finish in the 100 backstroke (53.80) and a second place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:05.53).

The Cardinals relay team consisting of Braumbaugh, Zellin, Brett Dipuma and Marc Gittings tallied a time of 1:40.32 to win the 200 medley relay.

On the women's side, Farida Yahia earned a first place finish in the 100 breast with a time of 1:10.65. The Cardinals also won the 200 free relay (1:52.13), with a team consisting of Sloane Glover, Caitie Preskorn, Makenna Hadrych, and Stefanie Boburka.
