Men’s Soccer gets big road win over Point Park University 1-0

Box Score The Men's Soccer program, under head coach Jimmy Regan, drove through the Liberty tunnels of Pittsburgh to play Point Park University with one goal in mind – get off to a winning start in the season opener.

The Cardinals accomplished their goal fueled by 10 quality saves by senior goalkeeper Cody Thompson (Kingwood, W. Va.), sound defense, and an unassisted goal by freshman forward Trey Tucker (Devonshire, Bermuda).  On the play, Tucker took advantage of a mistake made by Point Park's defender and goalkeeper and drove the ball home at 23:05 of the first half.

The team returns to Wheeling Jesuit for their home opener this Saturday, September 6th at 12 noon against the Philadelphia University Rams.  The Rams, who won their conference last year, have hooked horns with the Cardinals many times.  Saturday's game should be another highly contested affair.

"It is good to get off to a great start.  We have a good young group of student-athletes on this year's squad and a win is good for their confidence level.  Yesterday, we started four freshmen who all had a great experience," stated Coach Regan.
