Box Score 2 WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals played their final pair of games of the season on Sunday, splitting a double header with West Liberty, dropping game one 0-4, but ending the season on a high note with a 5-0 win in game two.
The Cardinals also made up the second game of the series on Sunday after being rained out on Saturday. West Liberty took that game 2-3, and won the overall series 3 games to 1.
The Cardinals now wrap up play for the season, having just missed the Mountain East Conference post season after falling to West Liberty in the first game of the series on Saturday. WJU finishes the year with a .391 winning percentage at 18-28 (18-24 MEC), their best finish since 2012.
In the game two win on Sunday, WJU used a four run, fourth inning to secure the victory.
Senior pitcher
Garrett Sancomb wrapped up his college career by throwing four strikeouts in a seven-hit shutout complete game.
Joe San Fellipo got WJU on the board first, reaching base on an error by the third baseman that allowed
Tony Connacher to give the Cards a 1-0 lead in the top of the 3
rd.
In the 4
th, the Cardinals loaded the bases early on with singels from
Kody Edwards,
Chad Ford, and
Mitch Ludewig.
Chad Burge was then walked, brining in Edwards to score from third.
With the bases still juiced,
Tony Connacher again got on base for WJU with a single to right field bringing Ford in to score.
Mitch Ludewig scored the final run of the day for WJU on another single from Pat Ammar to bring the score to 5-0 headed into the bottom of the 4
th, and leading to the WJU win.
In game one on Sunday,
Justin Fritts picked up a loss, throwing a complete game that included a pair of Ks and only four hits, all of which produced runs.

Mitch Ludewig, and
Aaron Dinterman.
