Box Score PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The Wheeling Jesuit women's lacrosse squad poured in 22 goals en-route to dismantling the Alderson Broaddus Battlers 22-1 on Sunday.
It was the Cardinals second-highest output of the season, with 10 different players finding the net for a goal. WJU now moves to 6-4 on the season, and is now at .500 in GLIAC play at 2-2. The Cards sit in 2
nd place in GLIAC standings.
It took roughly six minutes for the Cardinals to score their first goal, but that goal opened the floodgates and WJU would score every 2-3 minutes for the rest of the first half, putting the score at 14-1 at the break.
Freshman attacker
Elizabeth Hales (Orlando, Fla.) put in a big performance, leading the Cardinal offense with four goals on 11 shots, and giving up six assists. Hales also was a team leader defensively, scooping up five ground balls, and causing four turnovers.
Also scoring four goals for WJU was sophomore
Jessie Tufnell who scored four on eight shots, and senior
Shelby McClure who scored every time she shot the ball.
Maire Austin spent the entire 60 minutes in the goal for WJU, and kept out AB's four shots, picking up two saves and only allowing a single goal.
WJU returns to action on Friday, April 11
th when they host Findlay University in GLIAC action on Bishop Schmitt Field at 4:00pm.
