Cardinal Baseball Splits on Senior Day

WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Jesuit baseball squad split a Mountain East Conference double-header with the Fairmont State Falcons at the JB Chambers baseball complex.
 
The Cardinals celebrated senior day in style in game one, picking up a massive 9-1 victory before falling in game two 4-2 to split the double header, and split the weekend series as well.

gunning down a would-be scorer at home all the way from center field to prevent the Falcons from getting on the board till the 5th inning.
 
Game two started off as a pitchers dual with no runs scored for either team till the 5th inning.
 
FSU got on the board first in the 5th with WJU pitcher giving up a double to bring in the Falcon's Sam Orr, before Weiss walked a batter in to put FSU up 2-0. The lead didn't last long however, with Pat Ammar slamming a bases-clearing double down the left field line for three RBIs to put WJU up 3-2.
 
WJU pitcher Garrett Sancomb came in to relieve Weiss, but ended up taking the loss by allowing two more runs to score in the 6th
 
The Cardinals now hit the road to close out the season with a road trip to Virginia-Wise for a weekend series against the Cavaliers next weekend, and a big weekend series up on the hill against West Liberty the first weekend in May.
