Box Score 2 WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Jesuit baseball squad dropped a pair of games on day one of the Cardinals weekend series against the Mountain East Conference's third place team, the Concord Mountain Lions, 5-0 in game one, and 6-1 in the nightcap.
Junior right-hander
Logan Hudson kept the Mountain Lions scoreless from the mound through four tense innings in game one before giving up a pair of earned runs in the 5
th and 6
th innings leading to the loss.
WJU two-sport standout
Justin Fritts picked up the loss in game two, racking up four K's, but letting in six runs before being relieved by
Josh Kernik in the 6
th inning.
The Cardinals but bat to ball in the DH, but had trouble finding the gaps against CU, giving up eight strikeouts over the course of two game, but managing eight base hits.
Michael Adams and
Aaron Dinterman (another WJU two-sport all-rounder) led the Cardinals with a pair of base hits each in game two. Adams also had a single in game one for three base hits on the day. First baseman
Patrick Ammar added a double in game two, and a single in game one for a pair of hits, and shortstop Joe San Fellipo picked up a hit as well in game two.
The Cardinals will get another crack at the Mountain Lions on Sunday when they finish the weekend series with another double header starting at 1:00pm at the JB Chambers I-470 Complex.
