Wheeling, W.Va. – The Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals continued their weekend on Sunday against Notre Dame College at the JB Chambers I-470 complex where they split the doubleheader.
The third game of the Cardinals long weekend proved to be a great one when they blew out Notre Dame College 12-4. The Cardinals were led by
Angie Reddick who had three home runs along with seven RBIs.
Victoria Vuljanic and
Lorian Tharp also each had an RBI of their own in the game.
In the final game of the weekend the Cardinals lost a nail-bitter to the Falcons 7-6, when their 7
th inning rally proved to not be enough. Wheeling once again jumped out to a 1-0 lead when
Jarah Ice scored on a fielding error. In the bottom of the 3
rd Notre Dame had taken a commanding 4-1 lead when Tharp singled down the left side bringing home Reddick. NDC would add three more runs to their lead by the bottom the 6
th inning putting them ahead 7-2.
The Cardinals would gave a late power surge in the bottom of the 6
th when
Morgan Stohlman singled to shortstop scoring Tharp followed by a sac-fly by
Ali Smith which scored Small. The surge continued in the bottom of the 7
th when Reddick hit an inside the park homerun scoring
Kelsi Thompson. It once again would prove not to be enough.
The Cardinals fall to 1-3 in MEC play (7-14 overall) but look forward to their doubleheader on Wednesday night against arch rival West Liberty University with the first pitch scheduled for 3:00.
