Box Score WHEEING, W. Va. – The Wheeling Jesuit Women's Soccer team hosted the Golden Eagles from the University of Charleston in a MEC conference game, coming away with a hard fought 1-0 victory.
Aubrey Hutchinson, the sophomore forward out of Beaver, Penn. continued to be a leader on the pitch for the Cardinals. "Hutch" gave the Cards the lead they have been searching for over the last few games just 15 minutes into the match.
Allison Geary set up Hutchinson with a cross that put her into space. Showing her pace, Hutchinson burned two defenders around the corner and put a laser into the back of the net to put WJU up 1-0.
Hutchinson was a threat on attack all day, racking up 5 of the Cardinals 11 shots on the evening.
The rest of the match was a tense back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to find a strong advantage, leading to the 1-0 win for the Cardinals.
The win puts WJU at 3-5 on the season, giving the Cardinals a boost of confidence headed into Saturday's home Mountain East Conference match vs Concord University, scheduled for 1pm.
