Strong Second Half Sees Cardinals over OVU

Box Score The Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals rode the wave of a strong start to the second half to vicotry over the Fighting Scots from Ohio Valley University. After a 0-0 stalemate in the first half, WJU scored in the first minute of the second period, and went on to claim the 4-0 win on the road in Vienna, W.Va.

Coach Jim Regan credited OVU with playing a physical first half. "They were very stubborn in the opening half," said Regan. "We really struggled to break them down, but we kept our composure. We grew hungry after scoring early in the second half, and carried that through the rest of the match."

Leading the way for the Cardinals with a goal, and two shots-on-goal was Vincent Faraji who recieved an assist from Brandon Waugerman in his goal in the 47th minute. 

The Cardinals led the way in total shots by a large margin too, leading the Scots 24-7. 

In Goal, Cody Thompson had two saves for the Cards, staving off any would be OVU attack, keeping the final score at 4-0 to WJU. 

Up next for WJU is thier first ever MEC match when Notre Dame College travels to Wheeling on Saturday at 2:00pm. The game will be played on the upper soccer field at WJU as the stadium is now under construction.
