Box Score Greensburg, Pa.---The Wheeling Jesuit baseball team saw another great pitching performance spoiled as the Griffins of Seton Hill University rallied for five runs in the eighth inning to secure a 5-1 win on Sunday. SHU improved to 17-5 and 10-2 WVIAC play while Jesuit fell to 5-15 overall and 2-7 in league play.
WJU pitcher,
Jordan Kraus, cruised through the initial seven innings, limiting the Griffins to just four hits while collecting four strike outs. However, in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Griffins rallied for five runs on four hits and a walk. SHU opened the inning with a double to left field followed by a walk and single to load the bases. A fielder's choice scored the first run of the game, and Seton Hill blasted back-to-back singles to plate four more runs.
The Cardinals opened the ninth inning with a pair of singles from
Patrick Biega and
Corey Hull. Hull recorded a RBI, but WJU followed with two ground outs and a fly out which ended the game.
Wheeling Jesuit will be back in action on Wednesday, March 27 against conference-foe Davis & Elkins College at the J.B. Chambers I-470 Complex . First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
