Cardinal Women Fight to Stalemate Against Shepherd

Box Score BETHANY, W.Va. – The Wheeling Jesuit women's soccer team battled their way through a heavy foul count, coming away with a 0-0 draw against Mountain East Conference foe Shepherd University after two overtime periods.

Due to heavy rains, the match was played on Bethany College's all-weather turf field at Bison Stadium.

In what was a physical match, shots at goal were scarce. The Cardinals however were led by the senior captain #18 Jessie Vilkofsky who took four shots and #8 Allison Geary who had added three shots on goal.

The first half was evenly balanced, with both teams struggling to unload many shots (Shepherd had 5 shots, Jesuit 3). Shepherd put the Cardinals under a bit more pressure in the second half, doubling the amount of WJU shots (6-3) before evening out again in overtime.

With a total shot count of 14 to Shepherd and 13 to the Cardinals, the match ended in the 0-0 draw.

WJU takes to the road for their next match in Concord on Saturday, October 19th for a Mountain East Conference tilt at 11am.
