Wheeling University Athletics

First intercollegiate Basketball Team (1956-57) achieved 11-7 record with a Freshman JV team that competed with powerhouse teams, including WVU, Pitt, Duquesne and Steubenville. Under Coach Coyne's leadership, teh basketball teams improved their competitive standing each year in the WVI intercollegiate Athletic Converence. Coach Coyne set standards that forged the legacy of Wheeling College Basketball, sportsmanship, teamwork, competitiveness, quality talent, individual character and school spirit.
