WHEELING, W.Va. – Kelsi Thompson of the softball team has been named this week’s WJU Female Athlete of the Week!

Kelsi helped guide the Cardinals to victories over Tiffin University, 5-3, and Gannon, 4-3, on Sunday.

WJU trailed 3-0 in the top of the sixth inning vs Tiffin before Thompson belted a three-run double to tie the game. WJU went on to defeat Tiffin, 5-3.

Thompson also supplied WJU with offense in game two. She singled and scored on a double by Rachel Conrad. She then laid down a bunt to score Molly Welsh on a wild throw, and the Cardinals went on to win, 4-3.

Thompson and the Cardinals improved to 4-0 with two wins on Monday – one over Findlay and one against Lake Erie College.

WJU faces Lake Erie College again on Tuesday at 9 a.m. before taking on the University of Missouri-St. Louis at 11 a.m.
