Wheeling, W. Va. - At the conclusion of the 2026 National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) National Championships, the organization honored its top performers in the classroom. They announced the 2026 NCATA Academic Honor Roll, honoring student-athletes with at least a 3.30 across all three levels of the organization. For the second year in a row, the Wheeling University Acrobatics & Tumbling team had double-digit honorees, putting 13 on this year's list.
In order to be eligible for the NCATA Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be an active member of their team, while possession a 3.30 cumulative GPA. In their second year as a program, the Cardinals continued their excellence in the classroom, with 13 Cardinals making the list, including two of the three who represented the team at the 2025 Mountain East Conference (MEC) Event Finals. They coupled that with unprecedented success on the mat, shattering program records throughout the season. In their final match-up against Fairmont State and Frostburg State, the Cardinals were able to set 14 new program records, as they ended the regular season strong.
Being honored on this year's list our 13 Cardinal student-athletes, who have helped shape the program over it's two seasons. Abigail Farlaino, Gianna Bjorn, Gabriella Jantz, Jenna Smith, Emma Jackson, Shannon Farrow, Kallysta Hayduke, Laicey Angelle, Peyton Massey, Bri Perry, Mady Tregoining, Kaicey Angelle, and Mariah Pelkey were among the honorees. Bjorn and Jantz represented the Cardinals at the 2025 MEC Event Finals as members of the Trio Pass that took third in the conference, while five of the Cardinal freshman made the list in their first season of college athletics. The Cardinals have now had 31 student-atheltes honored for their work in the classroom over their first two seasons, after having a program record 18 a season ago.
The Wheeling University Acrobatics & Tumbling team continues their off-season work as they prepare for the 2027 season.
