Wheeling, W. Va. - For the fourth summer in row, the Wheeling Athletics Department is letting your voice be heard with our 2025 Wheeling Athletics Fan Vote Awards. Nominations for our 2025 Wheeling Athletics Fan Vote Awards are now open, and you can nominate your favorite Wheeling University Student-Athlete by clicking HERE. There are 11 awards up for grabs, and the contest will run across our social media channels all summer long.
This year's awards will be given out in 11 different categories, with a new list of nominees being unveiled each week. The nomination categories include Freshman of the Year, Sophomore of the Year, Junior of the Year, Senior of the Year, Grad/5th Year of the Year, Coach of the Year, Student-Athlete of the Year, Play of the Year, Team of the Year, Game of the Year, and Moment of the Year. Any student-athlete who was an active member of a Wheeling University varsity sport, or any active Wheeling University Coach for the Coach of the Year, are eligible for nominations. Fans can nominate their favorite Wheeling University athlete or coach by filling out the Fan Vote Awards Nomination Form now through July 20th. However, only one nomination per person per email will be accepted.
Once the nominations are received, follow along across our social media channels as we unveil four new nominees each week for the corresponding categories. The top four athletes as nominated by the fans will be the nominees and the voting process will begin on social media. Every Monday, four nominees will be released across our social media channels with the voting criteria for each platform. Voting will be open from Monday at 11 AM through Friday at 11 PM with fans being able to vote across our social media channels. The winner will be determined by the athlete who receives the most votes and will be unveiled on Saturday morning of that week.

Freshman of the Year - May 12th
Sophomore of the Year - May 19th
Junior of the Year - May 26th
Senior of the Year - June 2nd
Grad/5th Year of the Year - June 9th
Coach of the Year - June 16th
Student-Athlete of the Year - June 23rd
Play of the Year - June 30th
Team of the Year - July 7th
Game of the Year - July 14th
Moment of the Year - July 21st
Each week, nominees will be unveiled on Monday and voting will take place through Friday before the winner is announced on Saturday.
