West Liberty, W. Va. – Day two of the Tim Weaver Invitational saw the Wheeling Men's Outdoor Track & Field team compete on their second full team event. It was the track events that led the way, picking up a pair of top 20 finishes to pace the team in the effort. The Cardinals young athletes continue to build in their events as they continue through the outdoor season.
The top event of the day was the 400-Meter Dash, with Shane Levesque leading the way for the Cardinals. Levesque would take 10th overall at the event, running a time of 52.14 to take the top spot for the Cardinals. After running in distance events throughout the year, it was a change of pace for Levesque as he looked to quicken his pace in a shorter distance event. The other top 20 finish for the Cardinals came in the same event courtesy of fellow distance runners Magnus Polkner. Polkner would finish four spots behind Levesque, taking 14th running a time of 53.18 seconds. The final 400-Meter runner was Drew Pierce who set the lone PR of the night in the event. He placed 24th overall with a time of 55.38 seconds to round out the highest scoring event of the day.
The final event of the day was the Men's Long Jump, where Kabwe Bwalya returned to the jumping pit. He would take 22nd with a distance of 5.88 meters to round out the day. Bwalya competed in Triple Jump, high jump, and long jump in Indoor season and looks to continue that success in outdoor.
The Wheeling University Men's Outdoor Track & Field team returns to action on Friday, April 4th, when they head to the SRU Dave Labor Invitational.
