Huntington, W. Va. - After crowning a champion on day one, the Wheeling University Women's Indoor Track & Field team was back in action for day two of the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Indoor Track & Field Championships on Monday. The team would compete in two events on the day, and finished 10th as a team in the field. The Cardinals would have a top five finisher on the day, as they get ready for outdoor season here in a couple weeks.
The top finish of the day would come in the Women's High Jump as Tara Perry competed in the lone field event of the day. She would come into the event at 1.45 Meters and cleared on the first jump to get her day started. She would meet the same fate at 1.50 M, 1.55 M, 1.58 M, and 1.61 meters as she set a new season-best in just five jumps. With the season-best mark already locked down, the senior would go to tie her PR at 1.64 Meters. After narrowly knicking the bar on her first jump of the day, she would end up hitting the bar on all three heights and would end the day at 1.61 meters. She beat her season best mark by .06 meters and missed getting on the podium by one spot.
The Cardinals would compete in two events on the track, running in the 60-Meter and the 4X400-Meter Dash. After qualifying for the finals on day one with a time of 7.85, setting a new season-best, Shannon Farrow was back in the finals on day two of competition. Farrow would end up finishing in the same spot she qualified in, taking eighth in the field, finishing with a time of 8.10. It would round out the day for the Cardinals as they look forward to last chance meets and the Outdoor season.
The Wheeling University Women's Track & Field team now looks ahead to their last chance meets and they then prepare for the start of Outdoor Season in a couple of weeks.
