Youngstown, OH. - After crowning an individual champion on Friday, the Wheeling University Women's Indoor Track & Field team was back in action for day two of the YSU Mid Major on Saturday. It was a heavy track day for the Cardinals, and they were able to pick up another top 10 finish to round out the event. Both of Wheeling's top 10 finishes came in the field events as they wrapped up a run of three straight NCAA DI Invitationals.
That top 10 finish would come in the field events as Tara Perry took on the Women's High Jump. It was one of two field events on the day for the Cardinals, and Perry would fall just .01 meters short of her season high reaching a height of 1.54 meters. Perry took sixth overall in the event, and finished third among the NCAA DII athletes in competition. It took all three of her jumps to clear the height, but she did it on her final jump to round out a big day. The other field competitor for the Cardinals was Anber Yoho, who took on the Women's Shot Put. Yoho would finish 32nd in the field with a distance of 8.84 meters to round out the Cardinal field events.
As things shifted to the track, it was the sprinters that led the way for the Cardinals, with Shannon Farrow taking the lead. Farrow would take 12th in the 60-Meter Dash, running a time of 8.02 seconds to lead the way for the Cardinals. Behind her was Deja Ryals in 17th, who set a season best with a time of 8.05 seconds, and Nyja Short, who took 57th while setting a PR with a time of 8.93 seconds. Deja Ryals was back a few events later, this time running in the 200-Meter Dash, whic has been her best event this season. Ryals would set a new season-best, running a time of 26.59 seconds to take 24th overall. The final competitor was Bre'ya Clopper, who took on the 400-Meter Dash and ran a time of 1:07.51 to take 31st in the field.
