Rain Washes out Men’s Golf at Waynesburg Invitational

Wheeling, W. Va. - On Monday, the Wheeling University Men's Golf team was set to head down to Waynesburg, Pennsylvania for the Waynesburg Invitational. However, rain has been falling in Western Pennsylvania and the surrounding area all morning, causing the event to be canceled. The Cardinals will now set their sights on the upcoming Mountain East Conference (MEC) Men's Golf Championships, running October 7th through the 9th at Canaan Valley Resort in Elkins, West Virginia.

The Cardinals are coming off one of their top performances of the season both individually and as a team at the West Liberty Invitational, where they finished 11th out of 14 teams in attendance, shooting a three-round score of 908. They were paced by a big day from sophomore Robin Duzmann, who finished second overall with a three-round score of 209. He set a new PR in the second round of the event, shooting a 69 as he picked up his highest individual finish at a collegiate event. Luis Alvarez also had a big day for the Cardinals, setting his PR in the first round of the event, shooting a 74, before adding an 80 in round two and an 82 in round three to round out the day.

The Wheeling University Men's Golf team returns to action on Monday, October 7th, when they compete on day one of the MEC Men's Golf Championships at 9 AM.
