Two Cardinal Wins Headlines Day Two of YSU Mid Major

Youngstown, OH. – After the field events took the front seat on day 1 of the YSU Mid Major, the track events joined them for day two on Saturday. It was a big showing for the Wheeling University Men's Indoor Track & Field team as they picked up three different events wins on the day. Two golds came on the track with the field events adding the final win to round out the day.

The first gold medal would come in the field as senior Elijah Young took on the Men's Unseeded Pole Vault. He moved into the top 100 in the event in NCAA DII, hitting a height of 4.39 meters to win the event by .15 meters. After skipping the first two heights of the day, it would be on the final attempt of the afternoon that Young was able to clear the 4.39 meter mark to pick up the win. The final gold medal of the day came in the final event of the day in the Men's 4x400 Meter Relay. The team of Jabar Sellers, Ibrahim Fall, Moses Koroma, and Joshua Boehm would compete, going against DI and DII competition. They would beat the entire field, running a time of 3:21.34 to set their season best effort in the race and round out the day on a high note.

With the track events all competing on Saturday, it was Moses Koroma who led the field, competing in the 60-Meter Hurdles. Koroma would set a new PR for the event, running a time of 7.89 seconds, beating his old mark by .03 seconds. The first run was also a PR effort as Hunter Tomich took on the Men's 1 Mile, and finished 31st with a time of 4:40.92 to get things started. The mid distance events were up next and Boehm would compete in the 400-Meter Run. He also set a PR in the event, taking third with a time of 48.95 seconds, marking the third PR of the day. Following the Hurdles, the 60-Meter Dash was up next and Calvin Blunt led the way with a ninth place finish with a time of 7.03 while Fall finished right behind him in 10th at 7.05 seconds.

Tomich would come back in the Men's 800-Meter run, and took 49th overall with a time of 2:06.20 to round out his day. The sprinters would come back with the 200-Meter Dash and Blunt once again led the way for the Cardinals, taking 30th with a time of 23.39 as he rounded out the track events. The field events would also wrap up on day two, with Kabwe Bwalya and Daimar Ivey adding to Young's success.
