Wheeling, W. Va. – Wheeling Women's Basketball took on Frostburg State on Saturday and unfortunately lost a close one by a final score of 77-64 and they were pretty much in it for the entire game with it being tied 12-12 in the first quarter, 18-13 in the second, 22-20 in the third, but in the fourth Frostburg state was able to seal the game by outscoring Wheeling 25-19.
Although things didn't go the Cardinals way they still can look at this game as a positive and they still have a good record as the playoffs approach.
The scoring was very spread out for the Cardinals in this game as
Briarley Rogers,
Rachel Wilson,
Shamia Strayhorn, and
Bryana Henderson all combined for 51 of the teams 64 points which is a very good sign as they were able to get multiple players involved who all put up double digits. Wheeling was also very solid defensively specifically when it came to points off of turnovers as they had 16 and 10 points off of fast breaks.
With four games remaining in the season, the Women's Basketball team is going to need to play well going down the stretch and a game like this one can be helpful even though they lost because they can look at the things they did well and the things that they didn't do so well in and use that as a learning experience.
Wheeling will face Concord next on February 21st, so make sure you come out in support the Women's Basketball team by getting tickets or tuning into the live stream.
