Track Events Take Center Stage on Day Two of Douglas Raymond Invite

Kent, OH. – After the field and distance events ruled day one, it was the Track events turn to shine on day two of the Douglas Raymond Invitational. The Wheeling University Indoor Track & Field team wrapped up their first multi day event of the season, with the team picking up three top ten finishes on the night. Wheeling continues to lower their times as they prepare for the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The biggest event of the day came in the Men's 4x400 Meter Relay team, consisting of Moses Koroma, Jabar Sellers, Ibrahim Fall, and Joshua Boehm. The foursome would take second place in the event, running a time of 3:21.34 to finish six seconds off pace for the win. The other two top five finishes for the Cardinals both came in the 60-Meter Hurdles as Isha Sesay and Koroma continued their success. On the women's side, Sesay would qualify for the finals with a time of 8.98 seconds and came back to finish fifth overall with a time of 9.00 seconds to end her day. For Koroma, he qualified with a time of 8.1 3 seconds and, like the previous week, dropped his time to 8.01 to finish third in the finals field. While these three events led the way for the Cardinals, they had other big performances throughout the day.
 
The 1 Mile Run kicked off the day of track events, with junior Sophia Tomana taking 19th with a time of 5:46.53. Tyler Crook would follow on the Men's side with a 31st place finish (5:31.96) would have things off and running. The Cardinals would then have three runners in the Women's 60-Metdmer Dash and while no one qualifies for finals, Ka'niya McGowan took ninth with a time of 7.95. The Cardinals would get a qualifying time on the men's side as Calvin Blunt would take ninth with a time of 7.03 and Koroma took 6yh at 6.99 seconds. Mid-Distance was up next as Eva Tolliver ran in the 400-Meter run, taking 27th with a time of 1:06.51. Sellers followed on the Men's side with an 11th place finish (50.19) while Rafael Dayton took 23rd (53.82).
 
After qualifying earlier, Blunt was the lone Cardinal to compete in the finals of the 60-Meter Dash and finished 7th with a time of 7.07 to round out his day. Tomana was back at it next in the 800-Meter Run, posting a time of 2:39.58 and Crook took 23rd on the Men's side at 2:28.82. The field events rounded out the day, with the triple jump leading the way. Daimar Ivey finished third in the event with a distance of 13.49 meters while Kabwe Bwalya was right behind him in fourth at 13.26 meters. The shot put would round out the day with Cardinals competing on both the men's and women's side. For the men, Zay Lewis would take 25th (10.26 M) and Alex Hill took 28th (9.59 M) while on the women's side it was Mariah Pelkey In 22nd (9.49 M) and Amber Yoho in 26th (8.43 M).
