Alliance, OH. – While half the team was at the two-day Douglas Raymond Invitational, the other half headed to Mount Union University on Saturday. They took on the Jim Wuske Invitational as they continued the road towards the 2024 Mountain East Conference (MEC). The Cardinals competed in four events throughout the day as they got valuable experience with in their events.
The day began with the 60-Meter Hurdle Qualifier and, despite not having a qualifier for the finals, the Cardinals saw their top performance.
JayLynn McClarren would be the lone Cardinal competitor and finished with a time of 10.37 to finish 21st in the field. The Cardinals were also active in the Women's 60-Meter Dash qualifier, where
Jenna Smith would finish 33rd with a time of 8.52 meters. On the men's side, the Cardinals would have three runners Compete with Will James leading the way with a 22nd place finish with a time of 7.33. The other three Cardinal runners were
Jordan Edwards (38th / 7.50) and
Jonah Stanberry (42nd / 7.51) to round out the day for the Cardinals sprinters.
Edwards would be back in the next event as he took on the 200-Meter Dash and would take 21st with a time of 24.01. The final two events on the night came courtesy of the throwers with
Kamille Graham competing in both the Women's Weight Throw and Women's Shot Put. Her best throw came in the shot put, where she placed 15th with a distance of 12.37 meters, while she finished 21st in the shot put with a distance of 10.37 meters.
The Wheeling University Indoor Track & field team returns to action on Friday, December 2nd, when they compete on day one of the YSU College Mid Major.
