Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Haugerud Scores Two as Men's Soccer Falls to Concord

Wheeling, W. Va. – Wheeling Men's Soccer headed to Beckley West Virginia on Wednesday where they faced Concord who they have a long history with and the game did not disappoint with it being tied late and Concord ultimately getting the win 3 to 2, but all things considered it was a much better showing from the team.

The biggest story in this game was the play of Freshman Johannes Haugerud who scored both of goals for Wheeling and had them up two to one in the game at one point which is very impressive and promising for the team who has had some trouble scoring this season. Johannes has been very noticeable in the 5 games that he has started, and it is great to see that his hard work has paid off.

Cole Congson also had a solid game with one assist on the second goal of the game and this is not a big surprise because he is second on the team with 4 shots on goal and leads the team with 17 shot attempts, so he has been trying his best to get in the score sheet and he was finally rewarded on Wednesday.
Overall, Wheeling played a strong game and would have liked to come out with the win, but they had a lot of positives that they can build off of going into the next game and the fact that they had a season-high in goals shows that they are improving, and they can only get better from here on out.

Make sure you come out for Homecoming Weekend for the men's soccer game where they will be taking on the University of Charleston at 7:30 on Bishop Schmitt Filed!
