Hobbs Jumps Three Spots on Day Two of Mondschein Multi

Kutztown, PA. – Day two of the Mondschein Multi rolled on Thursday afternoon with the finishing of the Men's Decathlon and the Women's Heptathlon. It was a big day on the field events for freshman Julius Hobbs and it helped him jump three spots in the standings to lead the way. The Multis now look ahead to the team's final meet of the spring next week before the 2022 MEC Championships.

On day one of the decathlon, the group competed in many of the track events that Hobbs was not as a costumes to running. However, on day two, Hobbs got to compete in his two best events in the Pole Vault and the Javelin and he took advantage.  His top event of the day was the 1500 meter run which he picked up his only win of the day with a time of 4:49.77. he complimented that effort with a third place finish in the Men's Pole Vault as he continued adding to his score. He vaulted a career best 3.85 meters to finish third in the field and begin his ascent up the leaderboard. When all was said and done, he was able to jump up three spots in the standings to finish sixth overall with 4654 points, a new season high.

Finishing right behind him was  Desi James, who remained in his seventh spot in the standings with. 4150 points. James benefitted from a heavy track day on day one and once again shined in those events in the second half of the decathlon. However, his best performance of the day was in the Men's Javelin, where he finished third overall with a distance of 43.05 meters. However, he was out of the top five on each of the other four events and did just enough to stay in the seventh spot in the standings. The 4150 points were also a personal best for James as he finished his first decathlon of the outdoor season.

On the women's side, Liz Salas finished out the Women's Heptathlon and ended up finishing 10th in the Maroon group. She scored 2899 points on the day and ended up falling five spots from where she stood after day one. The maroon group competed in their final three events including the Long Jump, Javelin throw, and the 800-Metwr run. Salas's best effort came in the Javelin Throw where she finished eighth in the field with a distance of 22.88 meters. She rounded out the event with two 11th place finishes to bring the event to a close as she continues to battle through the multi season.
