Fodor/Sesay Earn USTFCCCA All-Region Awards

Wheeling, W. Va. - On Tuesday, the US Track & Field & Cross-Country Coach's Association announced their All-Region team. The Wheeling University Women's Track & Field team had two representatives on the list as Caroline Fodor and Isha Sesay each qualified. The Cardinals do not have a female athlete heading to the NCAA Division II National event, but they had a strong season finishing fourth in the 2022 Mountain East Conference (MEC) Indoor Championships.

Caroline Fodor was named All-Region for the women's 800-meter dash after a strong performance at the 2022 MEC Championships. She just missed taking home the individual championship but finished second with a time of 2:15.86. Even though she didn't win the championship, she broke the MEC Championship record for the event and finished just .15 seconds behind the winner. Fodor ran both the 400-meter and 800-meter run during the season and took home a couple of gold medal wins during the season.

The other qualifier for the Cardinals was Isha Sesay in the 60-meter hurdles coming back from a 2022 MEC Indoor Championship win. Sesay took home the first individual championship of her career when she ran the event in 8.91 seconds. It was her best performance of the season, and she also got a chance to run in the last chance event last weekend. Unfortunately, she was unable to qualify for the NCAA National meet, but she finished the indoor season on a high note as she heads into outdoor season looking to continue that success.

The Wheeling University Women's Track & Field team now prepares for the outdoor track season as they look to build on their 4th place finish in the Indoor Championships. They open the outdoor season when they compete at the Glenville State College Brandi Bowen Invite.
