Banks Two Wins Highlights Strong Outing for Men’s Swimming

Wheeling, W. Va. - After swimming their first three events on the road and having a delay in their home schedule, the wheeling University Men's Swimming got to swim in front of their home fans on Friday. They battled Salem University and although they fell in the team competition 155-25, they still had strong individual performances throughout the night. They had two first place finishes on the night to go along with a few PRs on the night.

Both wins came courtesy of junior Ethan Banks, who swam both in distance events and some shorter events. His first win came in his second swim of the day when he competed in the 1000 Yard Freestyle. He set a PR in the event for the third time this season, cracking the 11 minute mark at 10:52.40. His next win came two events later, when he swam in the 200-Yard Freestyle. He finished two seconds ahead of the second place swimmer, finishing with a time of 1:53.71. He swam in two more individual events, competing in the 100 and 200 Yard Backstroke. He finished third in both events, finishing with times of 1:01.18 and 2:17.79 respectively.

Nathan Yost competed in three events on the day and picked up a second place finish and two third place finishes on the night. His best performance of the day also came in a distance event when he competed in the 500 yard freestyle. Yost took home silver in that race with a time of 5:19.95, swimming the event for the first time this season. He began fus day swimming in the 100 Yard Breaststroke where he went against three Salem swimmers. He took home third in the event with a time of 1:16.59. His day rounded out with the 100 Yard Fly where he also picked up a third place finish. This time he swam a 59.96 to close out his individual eve ts. Both swimmers swam in a joined exhibition 800 Yard relay with two Salem Swimmers to end the night
