Wheeling, W. Va. – The Wheeling University Softball team is preparing to host their annual ID Camp this weekend as they offer high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors the chance to improve their skills with Cardinals players and coaches. The camp will be on Saturday, September 25th from 9 AM – 1 PM at the J.B. Chambers Sports Complex.
The camp starts on Friday, September 24th, with a tour of the Wheeling University Campus beginning at 3 PM. The players will get the chance to talk with admissions counselors and learn everything they need to know about the programs offered on campus.
Day two is set up much like a typical Wheeling Cardinals softball practice where players will be put through a series of defense, hitting, and pitching drills. Many of these drills are the same ones the Cardinals use to get ready for games throughout the fall and spring seasons. These drills will be run by Cardinals players and coaches and give participants a chance to show off their skills.
The camp will conclude with an inter-squad scrimmage where the campers will be able to take the skills they learned in the drills and apply them to live game situations. It is a chance to get a taste of what college softball is really like while exploring the opportunities offered by Wheeling University.
Registration for Saturday's ID camp is $100, and for $20 more, you can receive the camp t-shirt. To register, click
