Cardinals come up short at Notre Dame, 1-0

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio (April 5) - The Wheeling University women's soccer team was dealt a heart-breaking 1-0 loss at Notre Dame College Monday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Goalkeeper Jaci Wilson (Rootstown, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas) made a quartet of saves in the opening 15 minutes of the match to keep the game scoreless heading into halftime.
  • The game remained scoreless into the 60th-minute before an own-goal broke the tie.
  • A Falcon player played the ball into the box where it bounced off of a Wheeling player and into the net to give Notre Dame the lead.
  • The Cardinals countered with five shots of its own in the final 20 minutes of the match, but Wheeling was unable to find the back of the net.
MATCH NOTES
  • Wilson made seven saves in net for the Cardinals.
  • Notre Dame attempted all eight corner kicks in the match.
