PHILIPI, W.Va. (March 6) - The Wheeling University rugby team opened its season with a pair of Allegheny Rugby Union victories over Alderson Broaddus.
The Cardinals won the opening match 24-7 and finished off the Battlers with a 35-0 shutout in the nightcap.
In the 24-7 opener, Mohamed Hadar converted two tries to help the Cardinals earn the win.
Ayoub Jalli converted four tries in the second match, while Mwanz Iye and Jalli combined for five conversions to help Wheeling secure the victory.
The Cardinals will play their next match on the turf at Bishop Schmitt Field on Saturday, March 13 when they host Franciscan for a match at 12 p.m.
