Wheeling knocked off by No. 5 Seton Hill

WHEELING, W.Va. (March 28) - The Wheeling University men's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 5 Seton Hill 25-5 Sunday afternoon in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest.

TEAM LEADERS
  • Freshman Jake Wodarek (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) led the team with two goals and an assist.
  • Freshman Dylan Mathias (Golden, Colo./Golden) finished with a goal and an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Seton Hill quickly established a 3-0 lead in the first minute of the contest.
  • After eight-straight, Wheeling got on the board with a goal by freshman Brody Fawver (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) with 4:38 left in the first quarter.
  • The Griffins extended their lead to 23-2, when the Cardinals closed the contest with three of the final five goals to pull the score to 25-5.
GAME NOTES
  • Seton Hill was ranked No. 5 in the most recent United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division II Top-25 poll.
  • The Lakers held a 51-to-21 advantage in shots-on-goal.
  • Seton Hill was flagged three times, compared to zero penalties charged to Wheeling. The Cardinals were 0-3 on man-up opportunities.
