Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PHILIPPI, W.Va. (March 20) – The Wheeling University softball team won both of its games at Alderson Broaddus Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals rallied for a 9-4 win in game one, before posting a 6-0 victory in game two to close out the sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED in Game 1

• The Cardinals opened up a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning with the help of a two-run home run by redshirt-freshman Autumn Oehlstrom (Lisbon, Ohio/David Anderson).
• The Battlers used a four-run frame in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead
• Wheeling notched consecutive three-run innings in the sixth and seventh to rally back.
• Freshman Cassi Roman (Chino Hills, Calif./Ayala) drove in the game-tying run, before sophomore Brooke Webber (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) came through with a two-RBI double to give Wheeling the lead.
• The Cardinals tacked on three more in the seventh to put the game away, including a pair of runs driven home by Roman on a two-out double.

GAME NOTES

• Freshman pitcher Casey Kemp (Blanchester, Ohio/Little Miami) tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless relief with three strikeouts to earn her first-career win.
• Roman drove home three runs on two hits.
• Oehlstrom had a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored in the win.
• Wheeling finished the game with a season-high five extra-base hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED in Game 2

• The Cardinals got a complete-game shutout performance in the circle from freshman Jamie Anderson (Toronto, Ohio/Toronto) in the team's 6-0 win to complete the sweep.
