Cardinals dealt loss at Frostburg State, 2-0

FROSTBURG, Md. (Feb. 28) – The Wheeling University men's soccer team were held off the scoreboard in a 2-0 loss at Frostburg State Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After withstanding Wheeling's early attack, Frostburg was able to strike first when its first shot of the game found its way into the back of the net.
  • The first half ended with the Cardinals down 1-0 despite out-shooting the Bobcats 6-to-2.
  • Frostburg padded its lead in the 82nd minute when a goal by Vaughn Phillips propelled the Bobcats to a 2-0 lead late in the match.
MATCH NOTES
  • Wheeling out-shot Frostburg State 11-7 on the afternoon.
  • The Bobcats were able to muster seven corners compared to just four for the Cardinals.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Austin Aaron (Prince George, Va. / Prince George) finished the match with three saves while making his Wheeling debut.
