Ethan Banks Silver and Bronze Finishes Leads Wheeling at Salem

Wheeling, W. Va. – Coming off a strong performance in their own pool, the Wheeling University Men's Swimming team headed to Salem, West Virginia, to face Salem. The men continue to improve their times throughout the season, and a silver and a pair of bronze finishes for sophomore Ethan Banks led the way.

In total, Banks finished the day with one-second place finish and one-third place finish on his resume. He began his day in the 200-Meter Freestyle, where he earned his third-place finish on the day. He finished the race with a time of 1:55.60 and scored three points for his team. He continued to improve on his time from the last meet and bested teammate Nathan Yost by 15 tenths of a second. His silver medal was earned in the 200-meter Backstroke, where he finished with a time of 2:16.92. He beat out Salem's Caden Huffman for the silver medal. His final race was the 500-meter freestyle where he finished fourth place with a time of 5:12.45.

Nathan Yost finished his day competing in three races and finished the day with two bronze medal finishes. He started his day with the 200-meter freestyle with his teammate Banks and finished fourth overall with a time of 1:55.85. He slightly dropped his performance from the previous race, but still had a strong performance. His first bronze medal of the day came in the 100-meter fly. He finished the race in just under a minute, posting a time of 58.81 seconds.  He finished his day with the 100-meter freestyle and placed third with a 50.90 on the day. It was his fastest time of the day and wrapped up another strong performance.

The Wheeling University Men's Swimming team has a quick turnaround as they get ready to compete in the Oberlin Invitational from November 18th to November 20th.
