Wheeling, W. Va. – In their second to last road game of the 2021 season, the Wheeling University Women's Soccer team (3-11-1,/2-10-1) headed to Athens, West Virginia to face Concord. The offense just couldn't find its way, as they fell 7-0 against the top team from the Mountain East Conference South Division.
Over the first 10 minutes of the game, goalkeeper
Mikayla Yarwood saw that she had her work cut out for her she made two big saves over that 10 minute period as part of a ten save day for the senior. However, in the 11
th minute, Concord would score their first goal. The Mountain Lion's Lea Foster took a pass from Zoe Belding, and Wheeling found themselves down 1-0. The shots just kept coming from Concord, and 14 minutes later, they added on to bring the score to 2-0. Concord would add one more goal before halftime and the Cardinals went into the break trailing 3-0.
Wheeling could not get a shot off in the first half, but it was Yarwood who was keeping her team in the game. She faced nine shots on net during the first half and made six saves in the game. In total, Concord took 16 shots in that first half as Wheeling was trying to find a way to limit the Mountain Lion offense. They would possess the ball more in the second half and got off two shots of their own, but the Concord offense continued to get stronger and stronger as the game went on. Concord got off 21 shots in the second half, and it was too much for the Cardinals to handle.

th minutes of the game on their way to a 7-0 win. Wheeling's offense was clicking at the start of the first half, getting off two shots in the first five minutes.
Rilei Levesque got the first shot off in the 46
th minute of the game, and
Braedynn Porter got the second shot off in the 48
th minute. However, that was all for the Cardinals as they couldn't get it going. Yarwood was able to make 10 saves on 17 shots, marking the fourth time this season that the senior has had double-digit saves. She now has 101 saves this season and leads the MEC in that category.
The Wheeling University Women's Soccer team is back on the road when they take on Davis & Elkins on Saturday at 4 PM.
