WHEELING, W.Va. (Oct. 10) - The Wheeling University baseball and softball teams hosted its first-ever golf scramble at Oglebay's Crispin Golf Course this past Saturday.

"I want to first thank my staff, Coach (Tiffany) Buckmaster, her staff, her players, my players and everyone involved in helping us make this first ever event such a success," Wheeling Head Baseball Coach Ryan Lewicki said. "To all our sponsors, a big thank you because without you all, it would not be possible to provide some of the items needed to make this event worth it."

"We want to thank everyone for their support of Wheeling Baseball and Softball," added Softball Head Coach Tiffany Buckmaster. "Being the first-ever, we could not have had a better turn out and glad to hear everyone had a great time! We are looking forward to making this an annual event and have already been planning on how to make it bigger and better next year. Thanks again to everyone who participated and supported and we hope to see everyone back!"

The winning foursome of Blake Ring-Fish, Dave Frey, John Becca, Gary Schrickel shot an impressive 21-under par to collected the scramble's top prize. Additional winners of the event are listed below.

"To Crispin Golf Course and Generations Restaurant, they both were ran in such a first-class manner and to the high quality of service and for that thank you," said Lewicki. "To the teams, thank you all for attending and wanting to be a part of not only our baseball and softball programs, but out athletic department and university. We will keep you up to date about next year's event as we already have started to plan it and hope to see you all back again next fall. As always, Roll Cards!"
