Wheeling drops match at Frostburg State

FROSTBURG, Md. (Sept. 22) – The Wheeling University men's soccer team's was knocked off 3-0 at Frostburg State in a Mountain East Conference (MEC) match Sunday afternoon.

MATCH NOTES
  • The Bobcats scored in the 16th and 36th minutes to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
  • Frostburg State added an insurance goal in the closing minutes of the match to secure the win.
  • Sophomore Andres Caceres (Bogota, Columbia) and junior Santino Lasagna (Santiago, Chile / Instituto O'Higgins) each posted two shots on-goal for the Cardinals.
  • Frostburg State out-shot Wheeling 14-to-12 in the match and held an 8-to-5 edge in shots on-goal. 
  • Reigning MEC Defensive Player of the Week James Serman (Auburndale, Fla./Auburndale) made five saves in net for the Cardinals.
