Wheeling downed by Frostburg State

WHEELING, W.Va. (Oct. 20) - The Wheeling University women's soccer team was dealt a 5-0 loss by Frostburg State Sunday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference (MEC) contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Frostburg State got on the board in the ninth minute. The Bobcats sent a cross in from the left side and it found the foot of Audra Curtin who finished for the 1-0 lead.
  • The Cardinals applied some pressure on Frostburg State in the first half. Wheeling had a trio of shots on goal and two others which were blocked.
  • Frostburg State scored again in the 40th-minute to extend its lead on a shot from about 25 yards out to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
  • The Bobcats kept the pressure on and held a 15-to-5 shot advantage in the second half on their way to three goals to put the match away.
MATCH NOTES
  • Senior goalkeeper Megan Herter (Springfield, Ill./Sacred Heart-Griffin) made six stops in the loss.
  • Both junior Marley Magruder (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) and senior Micah Miller (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) attempted three shots for the Cardinals.
