ELKINS, W.Va. (Oct. 19) – The No. 21 Wheeling University volleyball team picked up a 3-0 sweep at Davis & Elkins Saturday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference (MEC) match.

TEAM LEADERS

• Sophomore Allonda Watkins (Beachwood, Ohio/Beachwood) led the team for the second-straight night with 13 kills. She also added four blocks.
• Senior Stephanie Sylvester (Oregon, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) finished with 31 assists running the offense.
• Junior Audrey Francis (Sidney, Ohio/Fairlawn) led the defensive efforts with 18 digs in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals appeared to have things in hand during the first set when they went up 24-19.
• D&E stormed back with five-straight points to knot the score up at 24-24.
• Wheeling managed to finish off the set with the help of a service error and a Cassie Meyer (Jackson Center, Ohio/Jackson Center) kill to close out a 26-24 win.
• The Cardinals were locked in during the next two sets and closed out the Senators.
• Wheeling went on lengthy runs in both sets to snap D&E's five-match winning streak.
