URBANA, Ohio (Sept. 8) – The Wheeling Jesuit University women's soccer was limited to five shots on goal against Urbana in its 2-0 loss in a Mountain East Conference (MEC) game Saturday evening.
The Cardinals fall to 0-3 overall, 0-1 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Blue Knights improve to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the MEC.
Sophomore
Kendra Benzel (Bernville, Pa./Tulpehocken) took two shots on goal for the Cardinals in the first 15 minutes, but was unable to find the back of the net. After both teams went scoreless into the second half, Urbana's Alyssa Edwards put the Blue Knights on the board with goals in the 71st and 77th minutes to push the score to 2-0.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Asya Carney (Moundsville, W.Va./John Marshall) made three saves for the Cardinals in net.
WJU will be at home for its next match on Wednesday, Sept. 12 when the team welcomes Mercyhurst University for a non-conference match on Bishop Schmitt Field at 5 p.m.
