BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (Sept. 30) - The Wheeling Jesuit University women's soccer team was handed a 6-0 loss at league-leading West Virginia Wesleyan Sunday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference (MEC) match.
The Cardinals (1-9, 0-6 MEC) only trailed the Bobcats (8-1, 6-0 MEC) 1-0 at halftime. West Virginia Wesleyan took command of the match with five goals in the second half, including three in the final 12 minutes of play.
Wheeling Jesuit was out-shot 25-to-7 in the match, with 19 Bobcat shots attempted on net. Junior goalkeeper
Megan Herter (Springfield, Ill./Sacred Heart-Griffin) finished the contest with 13 saves and played all 90 minutes in net.
The Cardinals will look to get back on track on Thursday, October 4 when they travel to Glenville State for a MEC match at 7 p.m.
