WHEELING, W.Va. (Sept. 23) - The Wheeling Jesuit University women's soccer team was dealt a 3-0 loss by Fairmont State in a Mountain East Conference (MEC) matchup at Bishop Schmitt Field Sunday afternoon.
The loss drops the Cardinals to 0-3 in the MEC, 1-6 overall. Meanwhile, the Falcons sit atop the conference standings at 3-0-1, 5-1-1 overall.
Fairmont State scored a pair of first half goals within 10 minutes of each other to establish a 2-0 lead. Wheeling Jesuit managed to put a pair of shots on goal, but neither found the back of the net.
The Falcons netted the game's third goal early in the second half and limited the Cardinals to one shot on goal over the final 45 minutes to close out the match.

Asya Carney (Moundsville, W.Va./John Marshall) made three saves for Wheeling Jesuit in the loss.
The Cardinals travel to West Liberty on Wednesday, September 26 for a MEC match at 3:30 p.m.
