PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – In the first matchup of the season, Ursuline College was able to prevail over Wheeling Jesuit women's soccer, 3-1. The Cardinals came out strong in the first-half, taking five shots in the first 15 minutes, but Ursuline College was able to hold off.

Ursuline came out strong in the first-half with three goals. Odessa Strizzi, Kara Martin, and Haley Knox were able to score against the Cardinals in the first-half at 16:59, 34:56, and 40:05. WJU would finish the first-half with eight attempted shots, three which had to be saved by Ursuline's goalie Gina Cerny.

Despite trailing 3-0, WJU was able to shut out the Arrows in the second-half. The Cardinals were able to block several shots taken by the Arrows, and goalie
Mikayla Yarwood saved a shot in the 70th minute. The Cardinals were able to beat the defense multiple times and took seven shots in the second-half.

Karly Judy, was able to score a goal for the Cardinals at the 89th minute, but the Cardinals ran out of time against the Arrows.
