3/29/2018 10:59:00 AM

WHEELING, W.Va. – In a wet late evening matchup, Wheeling Jesuit dominated from the start and never allowed visiting Franciscan University into the game for a 112-0 final score.

The Cardinals made it across the try line in the third minute of the match and never looked back, dotting down 55 points to close out the half.

The first half consisted of nine tries, five of which being converted by fly half George Roscoe, who shared the kicking with Joji Vakasisikakala. The Cardinals 8-man Inosi Kau started the scoring, followed by full back Vakasisikakala and wing Alston Burton all within the first 10 minutes. The fast WJU pace was consistent throughout the match, as it put up 57 to match the previous 55 points in the first half of the friendly match up. There were even a few WJU players who switched sides and helped out the visiting Barons in the latter part of the second half.

Burton led the score sheet with seven tries of his own, followed by Ryan Graggs, Frank Rolf and Mathew Martin with two tries apiece. Troy Kelly saw his first try of his Cardinal career along with Orrie Mann, Carter Landry, Alex Holden, and Joseph Broderick III, who each crossed the try line one team each for the team victory.

WJU will transition into 7s on Saturday, April 7, in the Battle for the Border 7s Tournament in Youngstown, N.Y.
